The Parlor Soldiers- The Soldiers are unique and fun, classic, dirty, beautiful,…Hot Damn! The Facebook event is here. This is going to make for such a fun evening. From their website: “Songwriters Alex Culbreth and Karen Jonas are accompanied by the talented Dan Dutton on upright bass. The trio released their first full-length album “When the Dust Settles” in November of 2011 (available on iTunes and at www.theparlorsoldiers.bandcamp.com). The usual tunes of heartache and heartbreak are accompanied by some more niche pieces complete with outlaws, sheriffs, hookers, and, of course, a lot of whisk…ey.”
Common Folk Music – “Talented songwriters and musicians Alex and Karen take turns on the guitar and behind the drums while trading, harmonizing and intertwining their vocals to capture our imagination with every story sung.”
There’s lots of videos I could post here that capture those words, but I still just dig the shit out of this one.
June 23rd
Arthur Alligood – 2011 Mountain Stage New Song contest winner, Arthur Alligood plays the house. We’re really excited to have him. He’s a fantastic songwriter as you’ll find out if you click play. He’s also going to be playing Mountain Stage the following day, so I’d love to send him to Charleston on a high note. The Facebook event is here.
Some press for Arthur:
“The songs on I Have Not Seen the Wind arise as strong, tested constructions that stand up under several listens. A meticulous craftsman, Alligood has a refreshing ability to resist throwing too much instrumentation or too many words into one song.”

Not sure on the date yet, but I’m working to get Haggard Wulf
to come play at the house. I’ve been a big fan since the first time Ovada and them split a show with Captain Catfeesh. They’re like the Flat Duo Jets in a way. But to say that would imply that they aren’t original. So you’ll just have to go check them out and draw your own conclusions. Or click on the player below. But there is so much more than this one cd.
